Routes 10/A:
Earliest timetable I have for the 10 is April 94.
The next timetable came into effect some time between Sept 95 and Apr 96 (Route 10). Service levels remained the same in the new timetable though early morning services to/from Donnybrook were scraped. In fact the Saturday timetable showed no changes till after 7pm.
Between September 97 and Apr 98 the route again was given a new M-F timetable (Route 10). Noticeable changes were early morning services from Parnell Square and a 0749 (just 1 min after the 0748) which operated short to St. Stephen’s Green.
On the 22/11/99 the 10 got new M-F and Sat timetables. Not much change to overall level of service though Sat service was reduced slightly to a mainly 12mins daytime service.
Something that may need to be mentioned here is an entry in fleet news (Buses Mag – November 99) that indicated the start of a 10X route from (Phoenix Park to Belfield). Don’t know whether this ever ran, would wonder of its requirement when this is Route 10 in any case.
On the 28/7/2002 the 10 was transferred to Broadstone Depot and was operated by the AW Class of Buses. It has a reduced level of service though was augmented during the morning peak by a new 10A service which operated from Phoenix Park to Stillorgan Shopping Centre. The frequencies in the new timetable were roughly 10mins all day, 5mins during morning peak (roughly half 10, half 10A), 8mins during evening peak, 15mins after 7PM. Saturday service was roughly every 11-15mins, Sunday frequency was varied though was generally every 15mins.
As of the 4/7/04, new traffic arrangements affected the Northbound 10 services around St. Stephen’s Green. Were previously the routing had been Leeson Street Lower, St. Stephen’s Green South/West/North, Dawson’s Street, the routing became Leeson Street Lower, St. Stephen’s Green East, North, Dawson’s Street.
This route reverted back to Phibsborough Garage sometime on or before the 8/12/04 without a timetable change, however on the 8/12/04 a new timetable was issued noting the new stopping arrangements on O’Connell Street (Route 10/A). Upon reveting back to Phibsborough the route also reverted back to D/D operation. This route has many stopping arrangements on O’Connell Street over the years, due to major road works etc...
