Photo of the Week - Week 28:

Donnybrook's VT17 is seen on a very rare operation of Route 14 on Barton Road East on the 15th July 2016.

The Marlay Park concerts come but once a year but the observations are always of note with many extras on Routes 14 and 16. Last year, Route 14 didn't have too much notice, but with it serving close to Marlay Park, this year it saw extras on each of the days. What was noteworthy was that VT-class buses were allocated. These monster vehicles are seldomly seen on Route 14, typically only for a break-down cover duty during/after the morning peaks. VT17 and VT18 operated in sequence to Dundrum on Longitude Festival Friday arriving in Ballinteer between 1830 and 1900. Phibsborough's VT61 was also noted elsewhere as operating Route 14 that evening, but I was unable to track it down.

Donnybrook's VT18 is seen on Beaumont Avenue operating Route 14 to Dundrum on the 15th July 2016.

Longitude Festival brought a number of interesting observations this weekend, so I will follow up with more over the coming weeks, next week will be VTs on Route 16. I finish with the only other VT photo I have on Route 14, which was taken prior to its amalgamation with Route 20B.

Donnybrook's VT31 is seen operating Route 14 on Suffolk Street on the 21st January 2011.
