Photo of the Week - Week 52:

Clontarf's Alexander R-bodied Volvo Olympian, RV633, is seen on the Malahide Road in blizzard conditions on the 21st December 2010.

Well the snow has begun to thaw today, though this will only be the start of the city's problems until it melts away. After a very brief interlude, the snow returned at the beginning of this week. The first few days brought with them fantanstic photos but one can't help but feel a little bit tired of the cold.

This, the last image of the week of the year, focuses on RV633. Starting with a solitary picture of WH1 on its first week, the Picture of the Week section has become the main feature of the site. 2010 was a big year for DublinbusStuff, hopefully 2011 will offer even more. There will be some slight changes to the site over the coming weeks, as is normal for this site at the turn of the year. With the recent weather conditions, a few more images are bound to be added to the snow feature on the frontpage. Another route feature is also on the cards. So stay tuned.

RV633 entered service early in 2000. In the Summer of 2003 it, along with RV631, operated Bus Eireann Route 105 (Dublin - Ratoath). It transferred to Harristown from Phibsborough upon that depot's opening at the end of October 2004. In July 2009 it transferred to Clontarf and is now one of only 3 remaining Olympians at this depot, the others being RV632 and RV634. All 3 buses have recently been put up for sale and thus their days are numbered.

No doubt the Malahide Road Review will see their demise, if not before that. Thus the recent weather conditions offered what could be the last chance to catch these particular vehicles in blizzard conditions. RV632-4 are confined nowadays to operations on Routes 27 and 29A, and RV633 was allocated to Route 27 on Tuesday the 21st December 2010.

RV633 is seen operating Route 27 from the vantage of Fairview footbridge on the 21st December 2010.
