Photo of the Week - Week 11:

Unable to get into Dublin City to get photos of this year's Patrick's Day diversions, I decided to raid the archives. However, what I had not expected was that its been 7 years since I had gone in to get Patrick's Day diversion photos. It's a difficult day to get photos for me, there always being something else on, but I need to make a concerted effort next year. The difficulty increases given there is no RTPI, which is turned off due to its inability to cope when buses are so far off route positions and untimetabled extras are running all over the place. Buses often get bunched on the diversion routes, not necessarily buses on the same route, but just all routes which have to take the same city diversions. This results in large gaps of no buses and then a glut of them, which inherently leads to a lot of standing around. Not for the faint hearted given the recent years' weather, however Paddy's Day 2012, when these photos were taken, was quite pleasant.

Conyngham Road's former AV405 is seen operating Route 40 on Church Street on the 17th March 2012, the 40 being able to take a significant route short cut from Thomas Street to Prospect Road via Bridge Street, Church Street and Phibsboro (click on photo for larger version).

Clontarf's EV75 and former AV41 are seen on Memorial Road operating Route 32 and 130 respectively on the 17th March 2012. The buses are just approaching their temporary terminus on George's Quay (click on photo for larger version).

Donnybrook's former AV323 is seen operating Route 46A on Lombard Street East on a Paddy's Day diversion on the 17th March 2012 (click on photo for larger version).
