Photo of the Week - Week 26:

Phibsborough's Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL, AV304, is seen on the first day of the new 122 routing via Rialto on the 24th July 2011.

It really has been a busy week. Network Direct churned out another few ammendments with Route 120 and 122 being significantly reduced in frequency. The 120 now has peak hour services to and from Ballsbridge, while the 122 now operates via Rialto on its way to Drimnagh. This is a precursor to Route 19's withdrawal.

The routing is as per the former Route 122 route from Ashington to Dolphin's Barn, where as opposed to turning onto the Crumlin Road, the route continues along the South Circular Road, to the roundabout in Rialto where the image above is taken. It then takes a left onto Herberton Road, where stops have been erected, before rejoining its previous routing by turning right from Herberton Road to Keeper Road.

Summerhill's AV268 operating a Route 20B departure to Ardlea Road is seen on the Beaumont Road on the 31st July 2011.

Another week and another 20B photograph. This week brought the sad news that the 20B will be no more from Saturday the 6th August. My favourite route, a route that has made it to image of the week possibly too many times, will be gone to the ages. Expect a serious farewell feature accompanied by photos of the new 14.

Finally, the retrofitting of LEDs to the AV class began a few weeks ago. AV153, AV26 and AV40 are known to have had the upgrade. AV40 is seen below operating Route 27 to Clare Hall on the Malahide Road, on a rainy dark July evening.

Clontarf's newly LED fitted AV40 is seen operating Route 27 on the Malahide Road on the 30th July 2011.
