Photo of the Week - Week 43:

Ringsend's Alexander Enviro400-bodied Volvo B9TL, EV1, is seen on Route 15B on Pearse Street on the 21st November 2013.

Ringsend's EVs are a protected bunch. EV1 entered service on the 14th August 2007, the first of its type. EV2-EV8 composed the rest of the EV batch, and were confined to Routes 1, 2 and 3 by limiting their LED displays to these routes. In time, Routes 74/A, then Route 49 and finally Routes 65/B were added to the list. However, with Routes 1, 2 and 3 merged into a new Route 1, which is operated by GT-class buses along with Route 49, the 65/B have been the only routes in Ringsend to have had these EVs for a few months. A few weeks ago, EV1's display was unrestricted and though it has been principally on the 65 group, it has made appearances on Routes 15A, Route 15B (above) and Route 150. With the new GTs appearing on all of Ringsend's routes, it seems strange that EV2-8 are still limited. It must only be a matter of time before they are all fully unrestricted and put into the general allocation pool in Ringsend. They are now over 6 years old!

EV1 is seen at the Glendun Road terminus of former Route 3 on the 6th April 2012.

EV1 is seen having just departed The Square terminus operating Route 49 on the 30th November 2011. The destination is Eden Quay, its only two years ago but for some reason it looks strange.
