Photo of the Week - Week 44:

An AX on the 31! Ringsend's freshly painted AX478 is seen operating Route 31 on Lower Abbey Street on the 28th October 2017 (click on photo for larger version).

It's always interesting when a bus from another depot strays onto another depot's routes. This can happen by accident, the 150 and 68/69 seem to obey this principle regularly, whilst at other times it may be more scheduled overtime. For at least a few weekends of the year, the DART line will inherently be closed for line works. With extra bus services required, Clontarf will generally require the help of other garages. AX478, in the photograph above, is the first time I've seen Ringsend help on the 31 service. This was necessitated by the closing of the DART line over the October Bank Holiday weekend. Harristown and Summerhill, being geographically closest on the northside of the city would be more typical to be seen helping Clontarf at busy times. The final two photos show buses from these garages helping for the Malahide Demense Concerts in 2017. The display is fooling, as these buses didn't operate to Portmarnock but instead operated to the former Coast Road terminus of Route 42 as indicated by the sign in the window.

Summerhill's GT52 is seen loading at the Talbot Street terminus of Route 42 on the 17th June 2017 (click on photo for larger version).

Harristown's AX516 is seen operating an extra Route 42 service on Gardiner Street on the 17th June 2017 (click on photo for larger version).
